Mr. Burkart has landscape architectural experience in numerous states including Florida and California. He has held the position of business manager and as a vice president of a previous landscape architectural design firm.
He has been president of his own firm since 1978 designing and managing a variety of municipal, park, university, athletic, retail, corporate, medical, primary and secondary schools and, exclusive residential projects.
He has also authored three technical manuals for Landscape Architecture, SiteSpec Handbook and SiteSpec Handbook Version II. The third version renamed S.Details contained 59 technical specification sections and 210 standard details and was released in 2013.
Nemachek Vectorworks CAD software purchased the rights to includes Details as part of their CAD worldwide network. Mr. Burkart was presented the Ohio Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects Award of Recognition for SiteSpec Handbook, “for its technical accomplishment as a tool for landscape architecture”.
The Wolf Creek Company, Ohio Rain Bird master distributor with the support of the Rain Bird Sprinkler Manufacturing Co., bestowed upon him the title “Mr. Irrigation” for “His Influence and Guiding Hand in Designing Professional Irrigation Systems”. Mr. Burkart is regarded as an expert in all facets of irrigation design including water well drilling, pumping stations, booster pumps, backflow prevention, controllers, computer centrals, radio and telephone networks and weather station interface.
Mr. Burkart is also an expert in designing ponds, swimming pools, interactive play fountains, decorative fountains, sport fields (natural and artificial), storm drainage design, sub-surface drainage design, grading design, and small architectural structures. Construction managers have sought his impartial opinions on projects not designed by our firm. He has also been asked to serve as an expert witness by property owners and corporations.
Burkart’s innovative designs have brought many ‘firsts’ to Ohio. Most notably the first use of a pond water features in a State of Ohio interchange. He is also the first landscape architect to design and administer the renovation of a MAC 10 football stadium, including designing and administrating a new MAC 10 baseball stadium and two MAC 10 softball stadiums.
