Meigs Local Enrichment Foundation Project |

The community had been using a remote site for football apart from the high school for years. The running track at the high school was in disrepair. A group of community leaders established The Meigs Local Enrichment foundation to provide a new sport complex at the high school, and add park space with playgrounds etc. at an adjacent newly purchased site. James Burkart Associates Inc. was commissioned to develop a 400M running track, synthetic turf football field, 1600-seat grandstand, and concession/restrooms structure with press box. The grandstand is being built into an existing hillside and features an upper level concourse. The concourse is a gathering place for the concession stand and restrooms while also having a dominant view of the football field and running track below. The site had a 75 feet grade change, which required extensive grading and particular attention was required to provide for handicap access thru a series of switchbacks. The switchbacks also function as a vehicular service route to the upper concourse plaza. The projected is to begin in the spring of 2009.
